I am back from the Houston Premiere of Director Natasha Fissiak's new feature documentary "Pussy Riot: the Movement" at the Landmark River Oaks Theater Thursday, February 26th, 2015. An excellent job by Ms. Fissiak.  An informative view of the political upheavals of artists and a new population dealing with freedom of expression in Russia under President Putin. The Documentary follows the troubles a group of female activists in a band call "Pussy Riots". After an arrest for a political statement against the Government, run by President Putin, some of the members of the band were sentenced to several years in some of the worse prisons in Russia. A MUST see movie.

Ran into Director Shedrick Stokes of SCS Films at Starbucks-Westheimer/Kirkwood today. He is moving forward with his new Docu/Drama about Breast cancer "Joy Comes in the Morning". James Longmore screened his two short movies "Mr. Chucklebones" and "First Impressions" last night, Wednesday, at the Alamo Drafthouse-Vintage Park. Both good but "First Impressions" was wicked.
In the can around January and shot in 2014, Director and Writer James Longmore's two movies were interesting and he is improving his skills as a movie maker.  C47Houston News & Entertainment Magazine is going to keep an eye out for his projects. With a motivated team, we are sure that his movies will make money.  Green Cayon Films.

I am back from the private test screening of Damir Catic's "The Lost". This is one of several shorts being compiled in an Anthology feature. This particular short has also been accepted at the Short Films-Cannes Film Festival and the upcoming WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, so this was a treat and a half to see. Mr. Catic's last project the found footage feature "Her Cry" was a success and won awards.

It was good to see Producer/Actor Nick Nicholson, Director/Actor Larry Carrell, Director/Producer Baldemar Rodriquez, Producer Ron Geiner, Gregory Reinhart, Composer Ernest Robinson and Cinematographer/Editor Art Blackmore, to name a few people. And, nice job to the crew of Dark Lightening Films.
