Tickets Going Fast for the Gulf Coast International Film & Video Festival

  Coming up September 22nd through September 25th (this month) organizer Hal Wixon is pleased to present the 2011 14th Annual Gulf Coast International Film & Video Festival.

International reknown Flamenco Guitarist Lalo de Pilar will be providing musical entertainment along with Laurie Kay and Steve Balderrama...Quite a treat!

Things start off Thursday, September 22nd with an exclusive “Producers & Directors Forum” starting at 6PM to 8PM at the Jimmy Walker Community Center. (800 Harris Avenue, Kemah, TX 77564) A who’s who of filmmakers will be answering your filmmaking questions or concerns. On the panel are such filmmaking experts as Alyssa Rachelle Green, Chad Thackston, Larry McKee, Marc Furi, Martin Delon, Wayne Slaten, Rakesh Jacob, just to name a few. There is NO cost for this special event and there is plenty to learn.

Then Friday night, September 23rd, come to the mix and mingle at the Tabella Clear Creek Winery, (709 Harris Ave, Kemah, TX 77565) starting at 6PM to 9PM. This is an exclusive mixer where you can rub elbows with directors, producers, actors, models, investors and it’s an excellent networking opportunity. After all, sometimes, it’s about who you know. Casual Attire is recommended. $40 per person in Advance or $45 per person at the door. Cost includes a wonderful buffet of foods and desserts. Cash bar. Actress Marsh Mason will be there to engage in conversation on a one-to-one basis. It’s going to be awesome!

Then time to dress up and show off Saturday, September 24th at the posh and exclusive Awards Presentation and dinner at the South Shore Harbour Resort and Hotel’s Crystal Ballroom (2500 South Shore Blvd., League City, TX 77573) Awards for “Best of” films will be presented. If you have never been to this, you will be very impressed. Dress is upscale and after 5. $70 per person in advance or at the door. Cost includes one 2-day movie pass and dinner. Cash bar. Actress Marsh Mason will be there to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award.

New Pictures: The Spring Film Group Retrospective, Actress Mayra Leal Trains and the Houston 48 Go Green kick-off

We at C-47 Houston have been busy keeping you informed about the tv/film business here in Houston. 

First: We were at the Spring Film Group 201 Retrospective 02.17.11. Manny Mireles, the organizer of the group along with Kelly Smith, packed a theater at the Alamo Drafthouse - West Oaks Mall and screened 10 short film made in the 2010 season. Judy Garlow took away several awards for her film efforts including "Connect". You can see the pictures at: 
The next day, Marketing Producer Andy Valadez invited us to a marial arts studio as Houston Actress Mayra Leal trains for her role in Director Israel Marquez's new film "El Cascabel" You can see the pictures at:
Finally, Houston Producer Laura Schlecht kicked-off the first annual 48 Go Green International Eco Film Competition. 14 teams of filmmakers have until Sunday at 6:30PM February 20th to make, edit and finalize their films for a chance to win best film of Houston and a chance to win the national competition and a screening at the Cannes Film Festival. The Pearland Film and Video Meetup Group meeting 02-16-11

Organizer and Filmmaker James Coate presented its monthly meeting February 16, 2011 at Jake's Grill in Pearland, Texas. The Pearland Film and Video Meetup group came to mix and mingle and to discuss the groups future project. C-47 Houston Entertainment Magazine was there to support our filmmakers and to meet with new filmmakers.

C-47 Houston Entertainment Magazine is expanding its reach. Currently, we are talking with Paul Damon, the internet radio host of "Film Scene Texas" (formally, Film Scene Houston). We hope to be working with Paul and collaborating our efforts to bring film and television to Houston and to Texas. This is certainly an exciting time for all of us.

The February Issue of C-47 Houston Entertainment Magazine

The February 2011 issue of C-47 Houston Entertainment Magazine is done and you can find it at our listed locations. You can see the list on our website under "distribution and routes".
In this issue we presented as our Headline Cover and interview, Ms. Melody Moss and Ms. Yankie Grant. Two producers and filmmakers who have started their own production company called RustyYankie Productions. They have also produced several feature length films and are working on several television projects. 
C-47 Houston Entertainment Magazine was thrilled to feature the two filmmakers in the February issue. As part of our presentation we were able to grab the two producers on video.

We also talked to and presented Texas Actress Kristen Hall. Ms. Hall graced our magazine as our February 2011 LimeLight Featured Actor and Interview.

Kristen has acted in movies like "Sweatshop" and "Possum Walk". She is currently the principal actress in several upcoming feature films some of which are expected to be released sometime this year.
C-47 Houston Entertainment Magazine was also able to grab a quick cut-in video from Ms. Hall, who talked about some of the things she has done and will be doing.

The Spring Film Group presents "A Night with Horror Director/Filmmaker Mel House

Organizer Manny Mireles, Director Mel House, Kelly Burns and the Spring Film Group presented "Mel House: The Upstart Filmworks Filmmaking Lowdown", February 3rd, 2011 at the Alamo Drafthouse - West Oaks Mall.
This event was an exclusive look into the mind and workings of writer and Award-winnng director Mel House who spoke about the various facets of filmmaking including writing, SAG, distribution, managing budgets and more.
C-47 Houston Entertainment Magazine was there with the help of photographer Cinnamon Auld who took and posted some awesome pictures of the event. Thank you Cinnamon.

The 48 Hour Film Project's Best of the Late Films Screening 02-01-11

The Houston Producer of the 48 Hour Film Project, Ms. Laura Schlecht and 14 Pews screened the Best of the Late films entered in various 48HFP Competitions in the Houston area.

Screenings were shown at 14 Pews, a non-profit organization and the former venue for the Aurora Picture Show. (800 Aurora St., Houston, TX)

WorldFest-Houston's 2011 Kick-Off Wine Reception at La Colombe d'Or Hotel

The Organizer and the Founder of WorldFest-Houston, Mr. Hunter Todd, (pictured below right) and the Event Coordinator of WorldFest-Houston Ms. Kathleen Haney (pictured below left) Kicked-Off'd the 44th Annual 2011 WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival with a Wine Reception at Houston's 5-star hotel and Restaurant the La Colombe d'Or. C-47 Houston Entertainment Magazine was there to capture the moment, to support one of Houston's major film Festivals and to support our television and Filmmakers who attended the event.
Movie makers like San Banarje, Shawn Welling, R. Scott Budge and John Frazier were there. The Consulate Generals from the Netherlands, Germany and England were there. Indie Slate Magazine's Dave Walker and Maureen Herzog were there. Houston Film Critics Society's Regina Scruggs and Nick Nicholson were there as well as fans, supporters, actors, producers and investors were there to mix and mingle on this wonderful night of "being seen".

The 44th Annual WorldFest-Houston International Film will have a couple of more of these wine receptions coming up. We will let you know about upcoming events. The Festival is scheduled to take place April 8th through April 17th here in Houston. Power meeting with Marketing Producer Andy Valadez 01-18-11

C-47 Houston Entertainment Magazine brought together a small group of filmmakers to meet and mix with Houston Marketing Producer and CMO/Business Development pro, Andy Valadez of EBC Broadcast and Chief Operations Officer of EBC Broadcast Jim Boy. Held at the Uptown Starbucks on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, the meeting introduced the group to a new side to marketing their products and was a great way to meet new people in an intimate and close-up round table. New connections were made...New ideas were thrown around...New ways of viewing their businesses were introduced...New networking opportunities were established and by the time it was all over...it was hard for everyone to leave. Present were Filmmakers July Garlow, Wayne Slaten, Martin Delon, Actress Karina Junker, Actress Nina Garza, PR/Marketing Rep Alyssa Rachelle, CK O'Neal and Al Hayter.
